I want to introduce you to a potent framework I’ve been using with my clients that can completely change the way you go about overcoming your limiting beliefs and realizing your full potential.
The SHIFT model is intended to help you embark on a transformative journey in which you embrace your vulnerability, confront your self-doubts, and step into your true potential.
Over the weekend, pull out your journal and go through the following steps:
**S – State the belief: Begin by gaining clarity on the limiting belief that has been holding you back. Identify the negative self-talk or assumptions that have become obstacles on your journey. You’ll need to step into your courage to state the limiting belief and bring those shadows into the light. Acknowledge the negative self-talk or assumptions that have taken residence in your mind.
** H – Hone in on emotions: Take a moment to sit with your emotions and get intimate with how these beliefs have impacted your thoughts, relationships and overall happiness. By identifying the emotions associated with the belief, you can gain insight into its influence on your overall well-being.
** I – Investigate the roots: Delve into the origin of the belief. Uncover the experiences, compensatory behaviors you employ, influences, and societal constructs that have shaped your perspective. Understanding their roots empowers you to challenge their hold over your mindset.
** F – Find the evidence and : Seek out the evidence that defies these limiting beliefs. What are examples from your own life where you have succeeded or overcome obstacles despite this limiting belief? What are some role models or people who have achieved despite facing similar challenges? How can I challenge the validity of the evidence that supports this belief?IOW: what alternative interpretations or explanations can I find for past experiences that contradict this belief?
** T – Take on new perspectives: Embrace alternative perspectives that challenge the assumptions underlying the belief. Be open to new ideas and ways of thinking that can help you shift your mindset towards a more positive and empowering outlook.
The SHIFT model empowers you to challenge your limiting beliefs, reframe them into empowering beliefs, and take action aligned with your new mindset. It’s a holistic approach that addresses the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of personal transformation.
